Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Al-Mawasat Hospital Restores a Young Man's Ability to Walk

Dr. Firas Ashouri, a consultant in orthopedic surgery, hip, pelvis, and knee surgery at Al-Mawasat Hospital, successfully performed a complex surgery on a young man who suffered severe damage to his hip joint and was unable to move after a car accident nearly 10 years ago.

Dr. Ashouri explained that the patient, who is 35 years old, had undergone about five previous surgeries without benefiting from them, and his condition remained unchanged. He noted that the patient had a leg length discrepancy of about 5 centimeters, along with advanced osteoarthritis and stiffness in the joint. The patient relied on strong painkillers to manage his pain and had no mobility in his hip joint.

Dr. Ashouri added that the patient came to Al-Mawasat Hospital, where his condition was accurately diagnosed. After discussing the procedure he could perform, both the patient and his mother expressed their trust and approval for the surgery, which was planned to help him regain a normal life.

The operation took approximately one hour and successfully corrected the leg length discrepancy, which completely disappeared. After the surgery, the patient experienced no pain or complications and was able to walk within four hours by following a rapid recovery program. He was discharged from the hospital after 36 hours and was able to drive again within just two weeks.

Dr. Ashouri confirmed that during a follow-up visit, the patient was extremely happy with the results of the surgery and expressed his gratitude to the entire medical team that supported him during the procedure.
